Personal Statement: I have a broad range of experience
working with individuals and couples for 17 years. My training
includes psychoanalytic psychotherapy, family systems, cognitive
behavioral, gestalt, hypnotherapy and meditation.
Everyone is unique. Thus, I try to
create a safe environment, understand your particular situation, and
see the world through your eyes, which, I believe, is a major factor
in healing and change. Drawing on extensive experience, I adapt each
session to your special needs. Whatever the problem, I am committed
to helping you find your own solutions. You will gain a new
perspective, new skills and greater understanding, catalysts for
change, that will empower you to achieve your goals.
I
help many clients work through anxiety, grief and depression,
whether the result of childhood problems, loss, life
transitions or chronic pain and illness.
To alleviate pain, in addition to talk therapy, I use hypnosis,
breath, touch, sound and relaxation techniques.
Working
with substance abusers and their families find recovery
is a rewarding part of my practice.
I am an addiction therapist and Program Coordinator at
Brookside Institute. As an
approved provider for the California State Bar
Association, I
have treated attorneys and professionals with problems of addiction
and mental health. Although
familiar with 12-Step Programs, my client-centered philosophy
encourages each person to determine his or her own abstinence and
treatment goals. I have extensive
experience as a
therapist and lecturer in the field of co-dependency,
and have facilitated groups and programs for families affected
by addiction.
I was an attorney in the corporate
and private sectors for 18 years, and am knowledgeable about career
challenges and transitions from my own experience. I have taught
Stress Management, and have coached clients to successfully reach
their personal and professional goals.
Both in private practice and as a
Senior Mediator in Los Angeles Conciliation Court, I have mediated
Divorce and Child Custody and Visitation Disputes, and have written
on divorce and lectured at U.C.S.D. and Pepperdine College.
I have taught meditation and yoga,
and am familiar with spiritual challenges and crises.
