Hello. I'd like to introduce you to my counseling
practice. Please consider using my counseling services
for depression, anxiety, marital and relationship
problems; life adjustment and self-esteem issues,
personal fulfillment and personal growth.
I consider myself a "positive psychologist"
in the tradition of Dr. Mark Seligman's "Learned
Optimism." I like my clients to become more
aware of, and more focused on their positive strengths
and potentials, and to build on these strengths.
Another aspect and goal of counseling is to become
aware of and identify behavioral and emotional problem
areas and social skill deficits which are frustrating
and preventing one from being happy and adjusted in
daily life. Once these issues and problems have
been identified we can work on developing new insights
and realistic problem solving strategies.
In my practice I utilize mainly the
"Cognitive" and "Awareness"
therapies. The Cognitive Therapies challenge
distortion, irrationality, and negativity in the way
we think about ad experience our lives, ourselves and
others, and various problems and issues.
Healthier thinking can improve lives in many ways and
generate a wider range of options for solving
problems. The Awareness Therapies are useful for
working toward personal fulfillment, personal growth,
and self-actualization. Combining elements of
Cognitive and Awareness Therapies can be especially
useful for anxiety and depression, "the common
cold and flu of mental health."
